Approved Method of Below Footing Ground Plate Concrete Encasement Installation Such as in a Residential Application

Suggested Installation:

1. Ground plate should be placed parallel with foundation wall on virgin soil. Then concrete footing to be poured on top of ground plate

2. When covered with 2" of concrete and installed on the underside of the footing on virgin soil, this oversized plate is acceptable subject to AHJ & C.E.C 10-102 & CSA 41-13

3. CSA Standard C22.2 No. 41-13 Rule 6.10.4.1(b) plate grounding electrode shall have a surface area of no less than 186mm2 (2 sq. ft.) on the virgin soil side and the concrete encased side is a bonus

4. Allow adequate space between foundation wall and ground rod to account for concrete forms to be removed

5. All concrete measurements are suggested as minimum required

6. Ground plate is Intertek certified to CSA Standard C22.2 #41 & C.E.C. 10-700
